Seeker trials are now open! For more information about how this is going to work, go here
, and for the subject line you need to get the first email, see here
. You will have five tasks this time, because I thought that would provide a good opportunity for you to demonstrate a wide range of skills.
Seeker trials are slightly different from Chaser trials in that I would prefer you do as many of them consecutively as possible. While I understand that scheduling can be an issue, (and I will therefore permit you to complete your tasks in five different sittings if it so suits you,) it would be preferable if you were able to do at least two of them back-to-back. Seeking requires concentration over a long period of time, and therefore your demonstration of this ability may be a factor in deciding this term's team.
Trials will close Sunday, March 29 at 11:59 EST.
And make sure to comment below with your email address/other bits of information if you are trialing.
Thank you and good luck!
Seeker/Chaser trials should be up tomorrow at the latest, barring any crazy happenings.
As I said before, they will be happening a bit differently. This should help us so that we don't have to work around both of our schedules to do them--and you can do your trial in pieces if you like.
When trials open, I will give you a phrase. Copy this phrase (EXACTLY as it appears) into the subject line of an email and send it off to email@example.com. You will then receive an immediate automatic response containing another phrase -- this you also put in the subject line of an email to firstname.lastname@example.org -- and when you send that off, you will get another response containing the first question or task.
To answer a question or submit your completed task, simply type your answer into the body of the email and make sure the recipient of the email is changed to email@example.com -- NOT firstname.lastname@example.org, so don't just hit reply, because you have to change the recipient. IF YOU SEND IT TO THE CANNED RESPONSE ADDRESS, I WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR ANSWER.
In the body of each email with a question, under the question itself, you will find the subject of the email you need to send to get the next question. Simply copy and paste this (minus parentheses) into the subject line of another email to email@example.com when you are ready for the next question. This can either be the subject of the email with your answer to the question, or a separate email entirely. It's your choice. It doesn't matter when you ask for the next question -- Just that you answer it within four minutes of whenever it is sent.
You will have the same amount of time to answer your questions and complete your tasks as you would have in a trial. I will be checking the time stamps to see how long it took you in between the question/task being sent and your answer/completion.
And just a reminder:
ALL EMAILS MUST BE SENT TO CRUMPLYSNORKACK@GMAIL.COM, NOT CRUMPLYSNORKACK+CANNED.RESPONSE@GMAIL.COM, SO DON'T JUST HIT "REPLY."
If you do not send it properly, I will not get it.
So, with that explained, are there any questions before we begin? Comments are screened.
Beater and Keeper trials are starting, as of now! (Chaser/Seeker trials will be up as soon as I have finished writing questions/tasks. They will be done a bit differently than in the past, but this should help us avoid scheduling conflicts, as you will be able to do your trial whenever you feel like doing it.) Trials will close next Tuesday, May 31, at 11:59 PM EST.
Everyone who wants to be on the core team must trial. If you only want to be an alternate, you don't have to, but trialing may increase your chance of being chosen to play above other alternates where multiple people are available.
Potential Beaters and Keepers must comment below with 10 questions. (Please include the answers in a separate comment.) Remember, the opposing team will have access to both the books and any other Internet or print resources, so questions should avoid key terms that can be ctrl + F'd for wherever possible.
Formatted this way please:
1) (insert question)
Answer: (insert answer)
Source: (insert sources here aka book, chapter, if possible excerpt of the answer)
2) (insert second question) etc.,
This for example is good formatting:
1: Which incidents caused a wise headmaster to flush red due to flattery?
A: When McGonagall said Voldemort was only scared of Dumbledore and when Madam Pomfrey said she liked his earmuffs.
Reference: HP an the Philosopher's Stone, Ch. 1 (up until here everything is mandatory, the next bit is only to make life easier for me :) )
"I know you haven 't, said Professor McGonagall, sounding half
exasperated, half admiring. "But you're different. Everyone knows you're the only one You-Know- oh, all right, Voldemort, was frightened of.""You flatter me," said Dumbledore calmly. "Voldemort had powers I will never have."
"Only because you're too -- well -- noble to use them."
"It's lucky it's dark. I haven't blushed so much since Madam Pomfrey told me she liked my new earmuffs."
- All comments screened, you shall get cooooinnns for this!
Please fill out this questionnaire along with applying for clawlockerroom
membership. I'll add you to the comm for trials!
Trials will be open from the 13 to 17 of September, depending on when we can meet.
More details will be around soon.
*edit* Anie wishes to NOT be captain so please don't vote for her... Actually even if you do vote for her the position will go to the person with the next highest votes.. so why waste your vote? XD Thanks guys!
Who shall the Ravenclaw Captain be?
Poll ends on Friday 1.30.09 at 10pm eastern!
, I am just wondering which order you wish to answer the questions, especially since that we can't IM each other during the match tomorrow. I am probably not going to be in the chat tonight, so if you could answer this as soon as you possibly can. Thanks.
I'm also a little nervous about the match as I don't know as much as some people do about Harry Potter and the fact that I may sleep through the match.
Hey, 'Claws....I suggest that you go reply to this post at hh_quidditch.
Yes, that is bolded and, yes, bolded font can be a bit annoying. However, I know you will not miss it that way.
